Tawfeeq is the ability or opportunity to do good and earn Allah’s blessings. This opportunity can only come from Allah alone. How can we gain Allah’s Tawfeeq in this world for the benefit of our hereafter? When Allah gives you Tawfeeq, all your tasks will be made easy for you to accomplish. Here are five key ways to gain Allah’s Tawfeeq to do good deeds:
Supplication
If you want to earn Allah’s Tawfeeq, make dua (supplications). Supplicate to Him sincerely, trusting that everything comes from Him. If Allah wishes, He will answer your dua. He mentions in the Qur’an: “O my people, have you considered: If I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is only through Allah. Upon him I have relied and to Him I return” (Qur’an 11:88)
Read and Study the Qur’an and Hadith
If you sincerely want to get closer to Allah to gain the opportunity to do good, read and study the Qur’an and hadiths that can give your heart the nourishment it needs. You will be more likely to act upon the Qur’an and Hadith if you engage with it and truly reflect over its words. You can attend lectures, read books on Hadith, or peruse a translation of the Qur’an if you do not understand Arabic to give you a better understanding.
Improve your Taqwa
Taqwa means to be conscious of Allah in every action we do, including being aware of the words we speak. Many of us act without thinking and displease Allah. If you fear Him, you will be less likely to do bad deeds and will work towards doing more good. “So fear Allah, O you of understanding, that you may be successful.” (Qur’an 5:100)
Be Productive
Work productively by utilizing your time to do good, whether you are giving charity, reading the Qur’an, or looking after your family as best as you can. Time should be well spent in this life so that you can truly benefit from Allah’s acceptance of the desire to acquire Tawfeeq in all your affairs.
Be Grateful
Allah says in the Qur’an: “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favour].” (Qur’an 14:7) If you appreciate the Tawfeeq that Allah gives you, He will give you more of it, Insha’Allah.
